Measuring the True Value of Care in Guinea: Our First SROI Analysis

Clinic+O has completed its first Social Return on Investment (SROI) analysis, highlighting the real impact our services are creating for underserved communities in Ouré-Kaba, Guinea. This milestone was achieved in collaboration with Impact Measurement & Management Consultant Khadija Boukhobza.

Guinea faces significant barriers to healthcare - long distances, limited professionals, and high poverty. We set out to change that by combining community health workers, digital tools, and telemedicine to bring care directly to people’s homes.

This SROI analysis helps us look beyond the number of visits or screenings and understand what truly changes in people’s lives.

The results were clear and powerful:

  • Every $1 invested generated $12.62 of social value, with a range between $7.72 and $19.11 under different assumptions.

  • Patients benefitted most through reduced costs, better health, and improved understanding of their conditions.

  • CHWs gained confidence, skills, and job satisfaction.

  • Community leaders became better equipped to mobilize people for health initiatives.

  • The Ministry of Health gained stronger digital systems and increased trust

  • Clinic+O staff improved project management skills and experienced strong emotional rewards

Community leaders are already seeing the shift.

“People’s expectations for care have changed. The community now demands more attention, and we see a growing need for the services Clinic+O provides.”
Sub-Prefect Dr. Bah

One insight stood out: patients overwhelmingly valued the preventive education sessions.

In response, Clinic+O has committed to increasing these sessions by 50% in 2025.

This is what “valuing what matters” looks like in practice.

We also heard directly from patients about how Clinic+O is transforming health behaviors:

“I didn’t know I had high blood pressure. Thanks to the screening, I learned how to prevent complications and even changed my habits at home.”

Based on our first SROI recommendations, we are:

  • Strengthening ongoing data collection

  • Expanding to more remote villages

  • Increasing telemedicine access

  • Investing further in CHW capacity

All with the same purpose: ensuring every action we take creates real, measurable value for the communities we serve.

We extend deep appreciation to:

  • Khadija Boukhobza for leading Clinic+O’s first SROI study

  • Our community health workers, patients, and local leaders who contributed their voices

  • The Guinea Ministry of Health, for ongoing partnership in strengthening primary care

This is the beginning of a new chapter where measurement drives decisions - and impact drives everything.
